I recently grew frustrated with Webshots, and decided to write my own instead.
Mobile Wallpaper is a tiny little wallpaper manager that cycles wallpapers as you wish.
It expects you to set the path to a “wallpaper root” folder, under which you have subdirectories with jpeg files. (It can also read Webshots files.)
So it would be wise to create, for instance, c:\users\dick\wallpapers, and under that one create c:\users\dick\wallpapers\sunsets for all your jpegs with sunsets … and so on.
The program might get bigger as I continue to develop it, but right now it fulfills my basic needs. It…
- can create different playlists,
- can select / deselect folders for viewing
- use different modes (stretch, zoom, etc) to align wallpapers on the desktop
- uses the Lanczos algorithm for resampling images for different sizes, giving optimal visual clarity.
It also allows you to use CTRL-SHIFT-W to cycle wallpapers, just like Webshots.
